HELPLINE NUMBER 07544046828
Please call this number to report cruelty or neglect
All calls treated in confidence
Due to the significant increase in animal cruelty and neglect cases in the North West and surrounding areas and with a lack of USPCA presence in the North West, members of the public have been increasingly turning to the Rainbow Centre with concerns for animals. In a response to this we have launched a Cruelty Awareness Helpline.
Through the launch of this helpline we aim to raise public awareness on the widespread increase in animal cruelty and neglect in our society and to highlight that Rainbow is not only a rescue and re-homing centre but that we also respond to and deal with cruelty calls in a welfare capacity outside of the centre.
We aim to encourage the public to contact the Rainbow Centre regarding any animal they know to be or suspect to be the victim of cruelty or neglect. With our new helpline, we aim to make a difference to helpless animals who suffer neglect and cruelty at the hands of their owners.
In 2009, we cared for 50 that were the victims of cruelty or neglect.
The level of cruelty or neglect varied in each of these 50 cases from intentional cruelty and acts of violence towards animals to mindless neglect and irresponsible pet ownership.
To date this year we have treated and rehabilitated over 20 animals who were also the victims of cruelty or neglect. As we are not yet half way through the year we unfortunately expect this number to rise.
