On Tuesday 16th June at 6:50am we got a tip-off from a person passing through the Greenhaw Manor area – they witnessed a young man with a large Lurcher dog removing a cage used to trap cats from behind the wall at the entrance to Greenhaw Manor. When questioned as to what he was doing with this trap he quickly fled the scene dropping the cage at the entrance to Hampstead Park before picking it up and making his way through Belmont Park. Where he had dropped the cage tuna lay on the footpath which proved that he was using the cage to try to trap cats in the area.
Any cat caught by this man will have been set upon by this Lurcher or more than one Lurcher dog and ripped apart – “blood sport”.
This is barbaric animal cruelty and it is a criminal offence.
If you are the owner of a cat or know someone in the area that owns a cat then please spread the word.
It is important to keep cats in the home at night; don’t let them outside for long periods of time on an empty stomach and please be vigilant – if you see anything suspicious please inform the
Rainbow Centre on 71812882 or outside opening times 07709122778 or report it to the police.
