All
animals at the Rainbow Rehoming Centre are seen by a veterinary surgeon
as soon as possible. If the animal has not already been neutered the
necessary operation will be performed.
Unlike dogs who come into season just twice a year, cats come
in and out of season from March to December. They can become pregnant
at 5 to 6 months of age and get pregnant while still feeding kittens.
They can have 4 litters a year!
Males start spraying at this age (5 to 6 months), and if not neutered,
the smell can be unbearable. Male un-neutered cats get injured in
fights and treament can be more costly than the neutering fee, and
more distressing. Neutered males are less likely to roam for long
periods of time away from your home.
